Harrison Township has hired its interim fire chief to be the township's new fire chief.
After conducting a formal search and interviewing candidates, the township decided to promote Micheal Crist, who has been running the fire department since July 2022. Crist was given the interim title after Fire Chief Mark Lynch retired last year.
“I am proud to work for Harrison Township and to serve as the leader of this fire department.” Chief Michael Crist said. “It has been a dream of mine since I began here over two decades ago.”
Crist started as a part-time firefighter/EMT with the township in 2001. He was promoted to a full-time firefighter/paramedic in 2002. After receiving numerous certifications and degree in EMS & Fire Administration, Crist was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in 2007. After managing many different areas of the fire department, including the department training officer, he was promoted to the rank of battalion chief in 2018. In addition to his normal duties as a battalion chief, he has also been the departments training officer, EMS manager and grant administrator, in which he has brought in over $500,000 in outside funding for the township.
