At the Board of Trustees meeting on September 5, 2023, Harrison Township Trustees acknowledged the bravery and professionalism displayed by two of its own.

On August 5, 2023, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Dayton Ohio Deputy Javan Richardson and Harrison Township Fire Battalion Chief Dave Nangle responded to a three-alarm fire at an apartment complex. They discovered a woman who had fallen outside her apartment while trying to escape the fire. She was suffering from smoke inhalation and injuries to her back from the fall. Without hesitation, they carried her to safety where she was removed and treated at a local hospital.
And a month later, Tomasina Barfield was finally able to thank Deputy Richarson and Battalion Chief Nangle.
