Some of the many projects we have partnered with Harrison Township on over the last several years are:
- Harrison Township conducted two Neighborhood Enhancement Programs, one in 1998 and the second one in 2007, both at the request of our group. As part of the NEP, township staff conducted neighborhood walks and conducted property inspections for each property within our Neighborhood Association boundaries. We are the only neighborhood to have two seperate NEP's done by township staff in the last ten years. Some of the results found in the 2007 NEP was there was a 48% decrease in properties with multiple violations, 63% decrease in properties which needed to have the exterior painted and 58% decrease in properties that were found to have junk and debris stored on the exterior of their property when compared to the 1998 NEP.
- With the assistance of township staff, our community conducted two street lighting studies, one for Woodland Hills Blvd. and the other for Wire Drive. The residents of Wire Drive ultimately decided to move forward with petitioning the Township Board of Trustees to create a steet lighting district on Wire Drive and in the end of 2008, Wire Drive had street lights installed by DP&L Energy.
- We have worked with township staff in the past to have an annual clean up (township Service Department would remove all trash/debris, including tires, which were put out by the road), in Woodland Hills for several years. We hope to have enough participation in the future to begin doing the clean ups once again.
- Township staff has had four dilapidated structures demolished in the past four years from our neighborhood, the most recent demolition occuring at the end of 2011.
- Since 2007, The Board of Trustees have also declared almost twenty properties in our neighborhood as nuisance locations. These properties were brought to the attention of township staff by our group. These properties were subsequently cleaned up by the Harrison Township Service Department.
- We also met with and petitioned then State Representative Fred Strahorn to create new state legislation declaring historical vehicles needing to be maintained in an appropriate and operable fashion.
