In 2004, Harrison Township applied for and was awarded grant money from several sources, Issue 2, Wellfield Fund Board and CDBG, in order to start the Ome Gardens Sanitary/Sewer Project for the Ome Garden's Community. The project's first part was started in 2004 and was completed some time thereafter. Crews installed storm sewer, curb and new streets on Ome Avenue which is in the southern part of the Ome Garden's community. Harrison township staff was responsible at that time for obtaining the grants for the necessary funding, gathering neighborhood input in addition to acting as the government liaison during the construction period. In 2007 the Development Department applied for and was awarded $1,200,000 for the construction of new streets and storm sewer in the northern section of the Ome Gardens plat. The Services Department secured the additional funds in 2009 and the bid went out for the project in early 2010. In early fall of 2010 construction work began and will continue throughout 2011. Harrison Township is happy to announce in the next year or so, the entire Ome Garden's community will have new sanitary sewers and additional infrastructure improvements in place providing the residents with a major infrastructure upgrade for their community. |
