In Harrison Township, there are many various community development endeavors which our staff are always working on.  Jack Kuntz, Assistant Development Director, is responsible for the majority of the community development programs within the township and finding new projects to incorporate within the township's mission.  Harrison Township actively works to organize meetings with civic groups as well as identify areas of concern within our community where additional concentration is needed.  Harrison Township is also committed to informing the Harrison Township community as a whole about local programs which may be of assistance to you as a resident.  Please take a look at some of the following links which may be of assistance to you.

To see the Harrison Township's Calendar of Events, please see the top, left of this page.  This calendar was developed and is maintained by township staff in order to inform our residents about the vast amount of programs currently available for children, families and seniors alike, right here in our township region.  There are also many different great programs which may be of assistance to you and your specific neighborhood to the left of this page.  Please click on any of these links for additional information.

If you have any community program ideas or concerns,or simply would like to sit down to discuss the community in general, please contact Jack Kuntz at 890-5611.

Seniors or families with seniors, who are looking for assistance with transportation needs, home improvements, shopping, companionship, meal preparation, doctor appointments, overnight stays (24-hour care) personal grooming & dressing, mobility assistance and/or pet care, please take a moment to look at Seniors Helping Seniors.  This local business is owned and operated by a local Harrison Township resident and is an opportunity for seniors who need assistance as well as seniors who are looking for a volunteer opportunity to give back to our local community.

Boy Scout Troop 80 is looking for a volunteer who is young at heart, yet mature of mind, who is energetic and would be willing to assist Troop 80 as a Troop Leader.  This person does not need to have any previous Boy Scout experience, just be willing to learn.  This person would help the Troop take part in hiking events, camp outs and other outdoor activities.  Currently Troop 80 has no one to help the Troop do the outdoor events and is excited about doing some of these with the warmer months quickly approaching.  If you are interested, please contact Jack Kuntz at the township government center, 890-5611.

Neighborhood Groups

One of our major community development tools are neighborhood groups and the opportunity they provide township residents and property owners to participate in the township form of government.  Staff encourages and hopes to foster a strong working relationship with our existing as well as our future groups with the ultimate goal of helping make them a strong, positive impact on the township form of government.

Please click here to see a list of the recognized township neighborhood associations and the contact and meeting information attached to each group.  Also click to see more about the President's Association and some of the projects they have worked on in order to continue to improve Harrison Township as a community.

Youth & Family Program Initiative

For the past several years, the township trustees had looked into various possibilities to bring more youth and family activities to the residents of Harrison Township.  Many of these attempts were unsuccessful due to being unable to find the right circumstances mixed with an appropriate opportunity for everyone involved.  In 2009, township staff began working on the Harrison Township Youth & Family Program Initiative, a program which township staff believed could take advantage of the many ample programs which were currently in existence throughout the Montgomery County region.  Please click here to see more information about the Youth & Family Program as well as to see the youth and family program calendar.
